Wedding bells ring for Pedro and Leila
December 18, 2008 · 3 Comments

Last Friday, 12 December, two of our most popular students, Pedro and Leila were married on the beach at Caloundra. Many students and some teachers were on hand to see the beautiful bride and the handsome groom say their wedding vows in a beautiful morning ceremony.
Thousands of photos were taken, theses are just a few.
The wedding reception was at the lucky couple’s flat overlooking Bulcock Beach and everyone had a great time.
Keep your eye out for more details of this story when Pedro and Leila tell the story of their endless love.

Love is in the air at GV Caloundra
December 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It was nearly a year ago when Joel came to Caloundra with his best friend Max. At about the same time Lucy came to study here.
Joel and Lucy got to know each other in class and ended up travelling to Ayr, in Northern Queensland, to pick vegetables for 3 months. They went to Sydney after that, then returned to Korea.
Last week they came back to Caloundra because they were missing us and the Caloundra lifestyle.
When I asked them about their future plans, they said they would be opening a restaurant in Korea and eventually settling down on the Gold Coast.
GOOD LUCK!

Pedro wins 1st prize – a fantastic holiday
December 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment
The big news is that Pedro Giesel’s photo has been chosen by the judges as the overall winner in the GV Photo Competition. The prize is a 3-day holiday that includes diving on the Great Barrier Reef. CONGRATULATION PEDRO!

Here is the story that goes with the photo:
“Well, talking about my picture..
This photo is from my balcony at Bulcock Beach, this is the sunset here, every sunny day I have to see this horrible view.
This is too hard for me, but what can I do? Nothing, just drink a beer and enjoy that view.
This is My Caloundra!
Thanks to everyone that voted in my photo!
Thanks Global Village for this opportunity!”

Congratulations Noosa.
December 8, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Despite the bravest and toughest performance by the Caloundra Crocs, the Noosa Knights got up to win the Global Village Tri-School Shield last Friday.
The atmosphere was fantastic. Everyone was in high spirits, most of the students turned out to play, cheer or volunteer. The students from Noosa and Brisbane were welcomed with open arms, particularly ex-Caloundra students, Renat and Risa.
Thank you to Crocs fans who went crazy singing the Croc’s song and also for doing (and teaching) some great Colombian chants to cheer our team on.
Thanks also to the many students and teachers who volunteered to cook, clean, carry and make other students welcome.
Thanks also to Chris McCormack, from the local soccer league, for his assistance and for making the field and change rooms available. Chris is currently looking for soccer players for the local league. Please see me if you are interested in playing with Aussies in this local competition and I will put you in contact with Chris.
Finally thanks to Viorel, a CADET student, who umpired the first game and the second half of the the final game.

Evan’s adventures
December 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Hi everyone,
How are you?! I still work in Charleville. This week is very bad, because I cut my finger at the work by machine, and my friend too. You know what? The same day, we both cut our finger by the same machine. My injury is not too serious, but my friend has really hurt himself badly.
I will still be in Charleville until 20th December and then I’ll go to Byron Bay and Sydney for Christmas and New Year and then I will come back Charleville and keep working at the factory until 8th March.. Then I will go to Melbourne, Tasmania and Perth for other jobs.
I wish everyone a happy Christmas & New Year.
Evan (former GV Caloundra student from Taiwan)
